Honda CB750 Shoot
Saturday morning, we shot a series of Honda CB750 bikes all dating back to the 1970s. This is for a story motor writer Greg Williams is doing on the evolution of the CB750, featured in an upcoming issue Motorcycle Mojo here in Canada.
A few of the bikes weren't running, so we were confined to shooting in the suburban area. But we pulled off some great shots, using the dark hedges as a nice backdrop against the well lit, shiny bikes.

Infiniti has introduced the all-new M-series for 2011—a stable of six luxury sport sedans that include the M37 and M56 models. From the entry-level Infiniti M37 with its 3.7-litre V6 starting at $52,400 MSRP CDN, to the cream-of-the-crop Infiniti M56 Sport, a 5.6-litre 32-valve V8 starting at $73,400, the company has covered the gamut of uncompromised performance, luxury, and style for the 4-door fanatics such as myself, offering a wide-range of products at all high-end price-points. Innovation and risk-taking is nothing new to Ford. With no government bailouts, no string of recalls, and yet still making it to the top, the automaker is certainly doing things right, quickly leaving the competitors in the dust. And the 2010 Ford Flex Limited with the all-new EcoBoost engine is leading the way. When the award-winning Ford Flex first hit the streets a couple years ago (read my review HERE), this full-sized CUV with its distinctive, bold styling certainly made an impact, showcasing Ford’s ability to push the envelope

Speechless. Absolutely speechless. Porsche, the Stuttgart automaker with a rich history producing the worlds finest performance vehicles spanning sixty-one years, decides 2010 will be the year to unleash their first ever 4-door sports sedan, unveiled at the 2009 Shanghai International Automobile Show. And in true Porsche fashion, as they did with their long overdue foray into the SUV segment with the Cayenne, hit the ground running, producing perhaps the most prolific, unrivaled saloon on the market with their 2010

Review & Snaps: Amee Reehal
Dethroning the Honda Civic, the Mazda3 is now Canada’s top-selling passenger car. But if its performance you love, consider the sportier, 5-door hatchback version 2010 MazdaSpeed3. And starting at only $32,995 MSRP Cdn (before taxes/fees), there’s plenty to love.
First introduced in 2007, the MazdaSpeed3 is the all-out, performance version of the company’s flagship vehicle. The beauty is, at this sub-$33k price-point, nearly everything comes standard with really no need for anything else. Just swipe your card, roll-off the dealer lot, and you’re good to go.
Powered by a 2.3-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder direct-injected turbo engine, this rocket produces 263-hp at 5500 rpm and 280-lb ft of torque at 3000 rpm. Behind the wheel, the 6-speed manual MazdaSpeed3 takes Zoom-Zoom to a whole other level, with sufficient

Back in the day, the choice for the ultimate family vehicle was simple: minivan. And before then, it was the station wagon. But in today’s market, the choices and product lines catering the family market have become increasingly staggering—where minivans are no longer in vogue and wagons are more like sport sedans; where gas-guzzling SUVs have made way for the more acceptable Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV), and the Crossover is either full-size or compact. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with choices, and seeing as the auto manufacturers are simply keeping up with the ever-changing definition of the “family institution” in today’s society, you can’t really blame them. However, the choices remain daunting and today’s MiniVan/Full-Size CUV Dad is faced with some hard

...Upcoming New Vehicle Reviews
Here are some great upcoming vehicles I'll be reviewing in the next couple months:
1. Mazda Speed 3
2. Ford Flex with EcoBoost
3. Porsche Panamera-Turbo
4. Infiniti M56 Sport
5. Porsche Panamera-S
Support for my blog, particularly the new vehicle reviews, has been overwhelming with a steadily growing audience...I totally appreciate it. Any feedback, please shoot me an email to info@ameereehal.com . Also, subscribing to my RRS feed (button top-right) is a great way to stay in the loop.
As always, I strive to provide my own images for all my reviews, opposed to using stock. Writing has always been enjoyable, but photography is my true forte. Thus, I throw a little extra love into my images; always switching things up, experimenting with different styles, techniques, and ideas. Just as the auto manufacturers are constantly implementing new ideas and styling into their product lines, the photography should be just as diverse and certainly reflect this. Being progressive and trying new things...thats what its all about.

Once in awhile, I'll get emails regarding my shots, particulalry, how I captured them...the techniques involved, my gear, lighting, etc. So, I've started this new category, Behind The Shot, sharing methodologies behind those shots readers are most interested in.
This photo of a friend's orange Lambo Gallardo, taken in Phoenix back on April 2007, is a good example and gets plenty of inquiries.
Back Story: We were on a week long Arizona-Cali road trip, which I was covering. The cars were all rolling out following dinner. It was obviously dark out, nearly pitch black, but I wanted to capture this roll-out in a different way; something compelling but technically

Innovation is the driving force behind Ford’s current success. The company has recently taken reign as the top automaker in North America. Some may attribute this to the unforeseen, gradual demise of the competitors, i.e. the recall bonanza, but the reality is, Ford was well on its way to the top, introducing diversity and innovation to their products lines—frankly, taking engineering and design risks the competition wouldn’t dream of; risks that are now paying off. The all-new, fearless 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is just another example.

When the compact SUV first hit the market, manufacturers, collectively, felt this need to make them round, bubbly and delightful—probably a bit too feminine for the masses. Fortunately, in the past few years, they’ve realized ‘compact’ need not equate to ‘cute,’ introducing the more aggressive styling cues and key features of their larger SUV siblings. The all-new 2010 GMC Terrain perhaps best exemplifies this—a hard-hitting, premium Compact Crossover SUV with the right look (finally) at the right price.

Two things come to mind when pondering the new 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon. First, the wagon is such an underrated segment. Second, the Cadillac brand continues to be misunderstood amongst the GenX’rs in today’s market. Following a week testing this 5-dr, 3.6L Premium trim, AWD mover, it became even more evident that a sport-tuned wagon still offers the performance and handling of a sports sedan with the cargo and utility near that of a compact SUV, and that Cadillac continues to make huge strides breaking that ‘old

Remember the Taurus? The family sedan Ford originally introduced in 1986 that quickly spread like wildfire throughout suburban neighborhoods well into the nineties? Of course, you do! Because either your folks owned one or one of your neighbors did. And why wouldn’t they have? Before mini-vans and SUVs hit their stride, the Ford Taurus solidified its place as the family-mover of choice, offering cargo, styling, unparalleled technology, comfort and safety all rolled into one affordable vehicle.
Later discontinued, replaced with other models, and now finally reintroduced for 2010, Ford continues its legacy of innovation and quality with the all-new 2010 Ford Taurus, hoping to regain top spot in the family sedan segment. And having spent a week with this

Opting for a 2009 Porsche Boxster as the vehicle of choice for a weekend trip to Banff, Alberta, amidst the worst snow storm to hit Calgary in nearly a year, may seem like a really bad idea. Perhaps even outrageous or ridiculous, particularly when your buddies are all sporting SUVs and 4x4s. But for this giddy journalist, it was all smiles.
The fact is Porsche products, including the entry-level’09 Boxster starting at $58,400, are very capable, safe winter machines. They’re engineered to be driven, not sleep in the garage. It’s like placing a gifted child in special ed. class. You just don’t do it, and

New Portfolio: Auto-Pulse

The relationship between vehicles and people always fascinates me. Whether its a family of four sharing a single scooter, a Lambo-owner with a ten-car garage, or simply a passerby walking into the frame. Especially when vehicles are taken out of context, finding themselves in new, obscure environments, well, that's when it becomes more compelling; often a contradiction of people, places, and cars rendering a cool moment in time. Fortunately, I've had my camera when its happened.
I've added a new section to my port called 'Auto-Pulse,' consisting of portraits and candids I've shot over the past 10 years. All of it is personal work, a mix of my travels with a majority of shots taken while doing a job...a 'side-project' if you will.

...figured it was time to add that 'personal' section to my port.
You know, those shots that don't pay the bills but are just as vital; those raw, spontaneous images with absolutely no agenda, and the only person breathing down your neck isn't the CD, but that disgruntled dude on the NYC subway glaring you down as you inconspicuously take his shot. Yeah, those personal photos.
Landing somewhere new and walking around by yourself aimlessly for hours, completely lost and zoned out with camera in hand. Man, that's what it's all about.

Audi Magazine Spread

This past June in Toronto, we shot a spread for Audi Magazine Canada (out now, Nov09 issue). The brief was simple: shoot two hot cars (the 2010 R8 V10 and 2010 S4), with a couple good looking people. Simple enough, but we needed creative that made sense...one that veered from the cheese, and more towards sophistication.
So the concept was "an affair." A couple frolicking in the fields, with their cars (yes, their cars). Emphasizing the playful, organic vibe and less 'car shoot,' integrating everything into one frame, and making it work. We stuck to natural lighting only with some reflectors. This allowed us to keep mobile without lugging around strobes; but more importantly, retain that natural, organic feel were were going for.
Shooting a girl dry-humping a rear decklid is easy. But capturing people and automobiles together in a tasteful way is a little harder. I think we pulled it off here.

PRESS RELEASE:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON - October 28, 2009
The Pirelli Photography Awards are presented to AJAC members each year honouring the best in automobile photographs in two categories: Published and Un-published
Photography is part of the Pirelli culture. The company has created one of the world’s most well known photographic traditions – the Pirelli Calendar. The calendar was launched in 1963 from Pirelli’s London office as a gift for privileged customers, its concept a take-off on the pin-up popular with automobile manufacturers. But the subtlety of its images and the quality of its photographers made the calendar a coveted collector’s item.
Each year the large field of entries is judged by three of Canada’s leading photographers. The judges for the award are celebrated photographers Alana Riley of Montréal, Michael Van Leur and Derek Shapton of Toronto, all highly regarded professionals and award winners in their field. It’s worth noting that the judging is done with the photographer’s name hidden.
Anthony Paulozza, Marketing Director of Pirelli Tire Inc presented this year’s awards in the Published category to Bradley Horn and a new AJAC Member submitting for the first time, Philippe Champoux. The 2009 winner in the Published category is Mark Toljagic, first-time winner of the Pirelli Award.
In the Un-Published Photography category, Amee Reehal, the double first place winner last year, and first time winner Graeme Fletcher are the runners up. The winner in this category is Bradley Horn.
The judges commented on the quality of all the entries with considerable praise for the six winners.
For their excellent photos, each category winner received a set of Pirelli Tires presented to them by Marco Zambianchi, President of Pirelli Tire Inc.

A 45 year track record as one of North America’s favorite muscle cars, coupled with Fords engineering experience and attention to detail, has rendered a leaner, meaner, and more refined 2010 Mustang GT Coupe.
Arguably the best-looking Mustang of the modern era, the 2010 version gets a muscular yet lean and sculptured new design, including an aggressive front grille adorned with the first new Mustang emblem since the car’s introduction in 1964. Inspired by the 1970 version, the headlamps and turn indicators are comprised of one unit found on the completely redesigned front-end—front-ends that are slightly different on both the V6 and V8 GT trims. Another notable difference between the two includes fog lamps on the lower
